Sustainability Pledge

Crafted for Conscience: The Kattone Sustainability Pledge
At Kattone, we believe your most beautiful life milestones shouldn't leave a footprint on the planet. From our sun-drenched workshop in Perth, Western Australia, we proudly craft the greenest event stationery available.
Here is how we weave deep environmental reverence and social responsibility into every invitation, menu, and thank-you card we touch.
1. Earth-First Materials & Circular Production
- Tree-Free Paper: We skip traditional wood pulp entirely, crafting our signature paper from 100% pure, renewable, and sustainable cotton.
- Rainwater Harvested: Paper-making is notoriously thirsty. We catch our own rainwater in dedicated on-site tanks and pools, recirculating it through strict reuse loops.
- Zero Hazardous Chemicals: We rejected toxic industry norms to invent proprietary, plant-based processing systems and non-toxic, natural color dyes.
- Zero-Waste Utilities: The frames used to mold our paper are handmade in-house from sustainable materials, and our stack-separating cloths are washed and reused indefinitely.
2. Powered by the Australian Sun & Human Hands
- Solar-Driven Machinery: Our entire studio—from the heavy cotton-pulping "beater" to our computers and printers—runs almost entirely on rooftop solar panels.
- Natural Skylight: We work by the daylight of Perth's 3,200 annual hours of sunshine, keeping artificial light bulbs switched off.
- Artisanal Air Drying: We utilize a secret, highly efficient proprietary technique alongside the natural Mediterranean climate to dry our sheets of paper. This eco-friendly process gives our paper its ultra-luxurious, thick, and uniquely textured finish.
- Zero-Emission Finishes: We abandon electric guillotines and automated assembly line machines. Every envelope liner is hand-cut, every suite of stationery is hand-assembled, and the paper is twice-pressed using zero-fossil-fuel, hand-operated systems.
3. Hyper-Local & Conscious In-House Crafting
- Zero-Mile Production: By printing in-house with long-life machinery and Australian-sourced inks, we eliminate the heavy carbon toll of mid-production shipping.
- Artisanal Wax Seals: Rather than importing pre-made wax, we blend and cast our custom wax seals in-house. Our custom metal stamping bobs are designed and engraved right in our workshop.
- Circular Packaging: Your finished stationery is carefully packed by hand, prioritizing boxes recycled and salvaged from our own inbound supplier deliveries.
4. Ethical Supply Chain & Global Logistics
When we must look outside our studio walls, we partner exclusively with eco-pioneers:
- Peterkin Paper: For specialty colors we cannot manufacture ourselves, we source from local WA icons Peterkin, utilizing certified climate-friendly mills (like Germany’s wind-powered Gmund Paper).
- Australia Post: Our domestic deliveries rely on a carrier strictly bound to a 2030 Sustainability Framework targeting Net Zero emissions by 2050.
- DHL Express: International orders ship via the global logistics leader in SBTi-approved net-zero targets and green transit framework innovations.
5. Social Responsibility & Giving Back
Sustainability is nothing without human care. Kattone operates on a foundation of radical empathy:
- Ethical Global Employment: Intricate design elements, like venue illustrations, are contracted to elite artists in developing nations, injecting vital income directly into low-income communities.
- Fair Local Growth: When hiring locally, we champion young Australian talent, paying wages well above the legal national minimum.
- Our Shared Salary Pledge: The founders and shareholders of Kattone draw personal salaries from the business. Every single month, a dedicated portion of those personal earnings is sent directly to one of the world's least wealthy nations—funding food, clothes, educational paths, and personal care for vulnerable children and the elderly.
